Bob's Big Bull
I had the privilege of accompanying Bob when he took his first elk last year. He was 72 years old and had not had a successful elk hunt to this point. After his nephew Joe tagged out, I set out with Bob to find a shooter. That first evening I spent glassing some open country known for feeding lots of bulls. Just as I had anticipated, several bulls began pushing their harems out of the trees just before dark. There was one bull that stood out with a very unique shape to his rack. The bulls frame was kinda narrow, but he had some good tine length and thirds that shot straight out before curling up. The plan was to get there early enough in the morning to catch them on their way back into the trees. Our slow but steady approach in the dark proved just fast enough as we were able to get in front of the last group of elk to leave the meadow. As luck would have it, it was the same bull I had glassed the night before. If you watch closely, you can see blood erupt from the first wound mid body as the second round makes impact in the lower neck. Many thanks to Carl Bryant for capturing it all on film!

Bull Shizz
Got some great 35 yard footage of this little guy tonight, June 2nd. Not one of the big ones I was looking for, but he wanted to be a movie star! Was he worth burning a couple minutes of film on?

Coyote Ugly Bull
As elk began to filter into the meadow, this wide 6x6 sounded off to every challenger that called. He was following his "hot" cow like a whooped puppy dog! He was definitely a wide bull, but not the best looking bull we had seen. After we saw the coyote run by him, we affectionately referred to him as the "coyote ugly" bull.

Rainy Day Bull
Here is some footage of a bull we ran into during the archery elk hunt. I love chasing bulls in a light rain like this. Unfortunately, this bull was heading towards the same group of bugles that we were and we were having a hard time getting around him.

Fishin' For Bulls
I had a great weekend fishing one of the high country trout lakes here in AZ this weekend with my friend Carl. Just before dark one evening, a group of bull elk came down for a drink in the cove we were fishing. I was able to burn a little wobbly footage as our trolling motor inched us a little closer.
Oh ya, we caught a few fish too!

Hwy Honey Hole Bull
I filmed this bull while hunting the last day of the archery elk season with Scott and Houston. Too bad he broke the back half of his rack on his right side. He was in a little honey hole we found not far from the highway.

Shakey Meadow Bull
After taking a nice bull during the morning hunt, I was scouting this area for a shooter to hunt with a new hunter that would be joining me the next day. Unfortunately I was caught with my tripod in my pack and I had to hold the camera free hand. This bull really put on a nice show.
